Resorts Kasargod
Kasargod is situated on an extraordinary part of Kerala that has scintillating natural features apt for tourists. The only Lake Temple in Kerala, the Anantapura Lake Temple, is in this region. Kasargod has breathtaking hill resorts. The Bekel Fort, believed to have been built in the 1650s by Shivappa Naik of the Ikkeri dynasty, faces the Arabian Sea. The Pallikere Beach is only about a kilometer from the fort. There is an aqua park that offers pedal boat riding facilities.
Kappil Beach is isolated beach from where you can have a view of the Arabian Sea. If you like backwater rides, head to Valiyaparambu. There are picturesque islands and intertwining rivers. Kanwatheertha Beach, too, is famous with tourists. The Kanhangad Fort here is also known as Hosdurg fort. About 30km north east of Kanhangad is Kottanchery, where you can go trekking. Another fort you can find here is the 18th century Dutch Fort on the Veeramala hills in Cheruvathur. The fort at Chandragiri was built in the 17th century.
Two beautiful Jain temples are situated here on the banks of the enchanting Manjeswar river, in Manjeswaram. The Gothic-styled Roman Catholic Mother Dolores Church is 11km from Kumbla. The Our Lady of Sorrows Church is the oldest church in the district, and was built in 1890.
Possadigumpe, 18km east of Mangalpady, is a picturesque hillock rising to a height of about 1,060ft above sea-level. It is a great place for a day’s picnic. The Trikkanad Temple has many legends attached to it. One says that it derives its name from Pandiyan Kallu, a huge rock jutting out of the sea, near the temple. People believe that the rock was once a ship and was converted into a rock when one of the Pandiya Kings launched an attack on the Trikkanad Temple.
Malik Deenar Mosque is a historic mosque, rich in Kerala style of architecture, and is located at Thalankara. Nileswaram is the cultural centre of the district. A tourist can attend many festivals here. The Kavil Bhavan Yoga and Cultural centre here is famous for its Naturopathy treatments.
