Resorts Kumarakom
Kumarakom is a great place for a quiet and relaxing holiday. It consists of a group of islands on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala. The 14-acre Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is home to hundreds of types of birds, especially migratory birds. It is also visited by migratory Siberian cranes. A town nearby, Kavanattinkara, hosts boat races with almost 50 race boats as participants, on the day after Onam. It’s your chance to watch 100-metre-long snake boats. According to legends a young Brahmin dived into the Vembanad Lake to perform his evening routines and the water parted for land to rise. It created the island of Pathiramanal. It means the ‘sands of midnight’. It is accessible only by boat.
